Farm living

Tamworth Pigs

We began with this heritage breed, the Tamworth pig which originated in central England. The characteristics of the Tamworth reflect the breed’s centuries of selection for outdoor life and is extremely well-suited for forest grazing. Tamworth pigs do well in northerly settings where winters are severe. We have since avoided winter husbandry, turning to Hampshire and Yorkshire breeds.

Heritage Gardening

Gardening using historical methods to produce staples for the family table. A kitchen garden with herbs, greens and vegetables at hand, and a storage garden to fill the root cellar.

New Zealand Rabbits

Despite the name, the New Zealand rabbit is American in origin having been developed in California from rabbits imported from New Zealand. The breed is very popular for meat production more than any other breed throughout the world. There are five color varieties recognized by the American Rabbit Breeders Association: white, black, blue, red and broken. The New Zealand White is the most popular and widely used for commercial meat production.

About

We are a family farm in Michigan. We became interested in producing our own food for our family table. This means that we know our produce is grown sustainably and our livestock is raised humanely. Like our patron, St. Therese of Lisieux (the Little Flower), we are approaching this in small ways and in all things are thankful to God for everything He has provided. We started with rabbits, added pigs, then expanded with goats, bees, ducks, and lamb. We rely on time honored methods used by homesteaders generationally across this great nation.
We hold to the tenants of Faith, Family and Freedom.

Faith

The belief and dedication to our Savior, Jesus Christ, and a devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary.

Family

Love and support of one another with respect and protection of human life during all stages,
womb to tomb.

Freedom

The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the constitution.
